FAQs

About Us

Q

Who are Fitakitchen?

A

We are an established family-run business with nearly 15 years’ experience of design and installation within the kitchen industry. Based in West Yorkshire we have expanded the business on the basis of practical experience and satisfied customers.

We have developed a web-based supply business to give those who wish to source their own high quality kitchen furniture an opportunity to purchase products direct online at realistic and competitive prices. We believe that you cannot obtain units of comparable high quality at a cheaper price.

We are working in partnership with a UK-based manufacturer of high-quality kitchen furniture with over 30 years’ experience in the fabrication of high quality furniture.

We pride ourselves on the quality of our units, whilst aiming to be the most cost effective supplier of quality kitchen units online.

Q

Do you have a showroom?

A

No, we are purely internet-based from our office in West Yorkshire.  By not having an expensive showroom we are able to keep our overheads down in order to be able to provide our customers with quality kitchens at affordable prices.  We have a wide range of kitchens to offer and couldn't possibly show them all off in one showroom.  We have lots of colour photos in our gallery and recommend that customers order a sample door first.

Q

Do you send out brochures?

A

No, we don't have printed brochures.  This is for two reasons.  Firstly, we are an environmentally aware company and, as such, we do our best to minimise waste (amongst other things).  Secondly, our website is better than any brochure we could produce, both in terms of the information provided and the number of colour photographs.  We see our website as our interactive brochure and hope you will find everything you need to know here.  However, if you have any enquiries please don't hesitate to contact us on enquiries@fitakitchen.com or 0844 318 3814.

Payment and Delivery

Q

Do your prices include VAT?

A

Yes, we include the cost of VAT at the checkout.

Q

Do you offer a trade discount?

A

No, we offer the best prices to all our customers.  However, check out our monthly offers for extra savings and promotions.

Q

Do you have a minimum order?

A

No, you can order as much or as little as you would like, but this may affect your delivery costs – please see below.

Q

How much will delivery cost?

A

Please refer to our Delivery Information page.

Q

How will my units be delivered?

A

Delivery will be undertaken by our own vehicle and driver direct from the factory.  Please note that you, the customer, must ensure that someone is available to help take delivery of the units, including assisting the driver to unload and to sign for the delivery.

Q

What happens if an item is out of stock?

A

All cabinetry and doors are made to order to the customer’s requirements. Accessories are subject to availability, we will notify you immediately to advise of expected delivery time or make a recommendation for an alternative.

No order will be dispatched until all items are ready.

Q

How long will delivery of my kitchen units take?

A

For all kitchens, other than those with a painted finish, we aim to deliver within a 4-5 week timescale. Kitchens with a painted or stained finish will take 6-7 weeks.

If at any time there is a delay in production you will be notified immediately and given an expected date for delivery.

Q

Can I place a handles only order?

A

Yes, we will dispatch handles without cabinets.  However, we do not hold handles in stock, so delivery will take 7-10 working days to give us time to order them in, check them and send them out to you.  All handles will be sent by recorded delivery.

Q

How can I pay for my order?

A

You will be asked to pay for your order at the completion of the checkout process.  We use a secure service to take your payment, which can accept debit or credit cards from Visa, Mastercard or American Express.

What is your returns policy?

A

As our kitchens are made to order we cannot accept returns unless items are faulty or damaged. For full details, please refer to our Terms and Conditions.

Technical specifications

Q

What is the specification of the units?

A
  • Most units are manufactured rigid with traditional ‘dowels and glue’ construction.
  • Some units use Cam/Lock fixings to aid access in restricted areas or to aid manufacture.
  • Some of our larger units, such as 900mm corner units and some tall housings, will be delivered as a flat pack as they are too big to fit through most doorways.
  • All units are constructed using 18mm Egger board and 8mm solid backs.
  • Carcasses are colour co-ordinated both inside and out.
  • A 52mm void is provided at the rear of base units and an 18mm void is provided at the rear of wall units to allow for easy plumbing and wiring.
  • Base units are 560mm deep (excluding doors).
  • Wall units are 300mm deep (excluding doors).

Q

Do the kitchen units come with legs?

A

Yes, base units have 150mm adjustable legs with sockets. The leg socket is ready fitted, but you will need to attach the legs yourself. If we were to pre-fit the complete leg there is the possibility that they make break off in transit.

Q

Do the kitchen wall units come with wall brackets?

A

Wall units are supplied with concealed hanging and wall-mounting plates allowing for adjustment.

Q

Do the kitchen units come with the handles already fitted?

A

No, we have found that the positioning of handles varies according to handle style and kitchen range, so we leave this to your personal choice.

Q

What door and draw closure mechanisms do you use?

A

All cabinetry includes Blum Blumotion Tandembox drawers and Blum Cliptop softclose door hinges as standard.

Q

Do you do non-standard sizes?

A

We do not currently offer non-standard sizes via the website. However, please do email us at enquiries@fitakitchen.com with full details and we can provide you with advice and a quote.

Q

Are all the cabinets and doors co-ordinating?

A

Yes, wherever possible we will provide matching cabinets to your chosen door range.

The exception to this is the gloss and painted ranges. We will match the colour as closely as possible, but the finish (e.g. gloss or grain) will not be an exact match, so these ranges will require end panels – these are available under accessories.

Q

Do you have colour swatches?

A

We have provided the relevant colour swatch with the images of each of the painted and stained ranges.  To view a larger and clearer image, please visit our gallery (and scroll down to the bottom).  We do highly recommend, if you wish to order a painted or stained kitchen, that you order a sample door first in order to get an accurate idea of the colour and how it looks in different light.

Q

Is the door detailing available on all door fronts?

A

Some of our ranges have detailing, such as Shaker styling, routered door fronts and beading.  This detailing will be on the majority of the doors, however the smaller door and drawer sizes are too small to include this detailing.

If you have any questions about this, please do not hesitate to contact us on mailto:enquiries@fitakitchen.com

Planning your kitchen

Q

Do you have a design service?

A

We do not currently offer a design service, but are planning to soon.

Q

Can I order a sample door?

A

Yes, these are available for all ranges at a cost of £30 per door. If you subsequently place an order the cost of any sample door from that range will be discounted at checkout.

Q

Can I fit my kitchen myself?

A

We will supply you with kitchen units that have been manufactured and prepared to make it as easy as possible for you to fit them yourself.  However, you must be aware of gas, electrics, water and building regulations, so it is vitally important that you involve appropriately qualified individuals to advise on these elements of your kitchen.

If you don't feel you can do the fitting yourself read our Buyer's Guide - Finding a Fitter, for our advice on finding a reliable fitter.

Q

What do I do if I’ve measured incorrectly?

A

If you realise you have made a mistake in your measurements, please contact us immediately and within 3 days of placing your order and we will make the necessary adjustments.  Unfortunately after this period we cannot make any amendments and you will be liable to pay for the full cost of the kitchen.  For full details, please refer to our Terms and Conditions.

Q

Do you supply worktops?

A

We do not supply worktops via this website.

Q

Do you supply appliances?

A

We do not supply appliances via this website.
